Hi, I'm Bella Bah, founder of Boujiee Hormones. I was diagnosed with PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) at just 16 years old while living in Sierra Leone. At the time, I didn't have the words to describe what I was experiencing. Coming from an African background where conversations around hormonal imbalances were rare, I felt confused, lonely, and isolated. I thought my body was simply failing me. I struggled with many of the symptoms that so many women with PMOS quietly battle every day unexplained weight gain, irregular or missing periods, acne, excessive facial hair, insulin resistance, fatigue, bloating, mood swings, anxiety, brain fog, hair thinning, dark patches of skin, and the constant feeling that my body was working against me. For years, I blamed myself because I didn't know my hormones were at the root of it all. Everything changed when I decided to learn about my body instead of fighting against it. I spent countless hours researching, reading scientific studies, speaking with healthcare professionals, experimenting with lifestyle changes, and learning how nutrition, supplements, movement, and daily habits could help me better manage my symptoms. Little by little, I began to understand my hormones, and for the first time, I felt hopeful. As my health improved, I realized I couldn't keep this journey to myself. I started sharing my story online so that other women especially African women would know they were not alone. The messages poured in from women across Africa and around the world who had been silently struggling, just as I had. Their stories reminded me of my younger self, searching for answers that seemed impossible to find. That's how Boujiee Hormones was born. People often ask why I chose the name Boujiee Hormones. The answer is simple: anyone living with PMOS knows that balancing your hormones is a full time commitment. Healthy groceries, supplements, doctor appointments, lab work, exercise, stress management, and lifestyle changes all come with a cost. Living with hormonal imbalance is high-maintenance and sometimes expensive. Instead of letting that reality discourage us, I wanted to reclaim it. To make taking care of our hormones feel empowering, beautiful, and something worth investing in. That's why I called it Boujiee Hormones. Creating our supplement line was the next natural step. As I continued sharing my journey online, I noticed a heartbreaking pattern. Women from across Africa kept asking the same questions: "Where can I find these supplements?" "Why are they so expensive?" "They're not available in my country." I realized our community was being left behind. Quality hormonal health supplements are often difficult to find across many African countries, and when they are available, they're frequently priced beyond what many women can afford. I knew women deserved better. That's why I created Boujiee Hormones to make trusted, high quality hormonal wellness supplements and education more accessible to African women and women around the world.
